Cooperative Energy is seeking a Director of Power Marketing and Fuels
Primary responsibilities include:
Develops processes and plans to mitigate financial and operational exposures for Cooperative Energy.
Responsible for the coordination of Cooperative Energy's fuels and power marketing efforts to ensure adequate, reliable, and economic energy is available to meet member load requirements and market interactions.
Works with system operations to determine resource availability, and capability on a day-ahead and longer-term basis.
Directs the administration of power purchase agreements to ensure obligations under the agreements are met and to ensure that we are being billed accurately and according to the terms of the agreements.
Communicates with System Operations, Cooperative Energy marketing firms, and MISO to ensure all generation resource requirements are met on a day-ahead and longer-term basis.
Works with plant staff, operations personnel, and marketing firms to ensure that the costs of Cooperative Energy generating resources is routinely reviewed and accurately offered into the MISO Market.
Responsible for oversight, implementation, and compliance with Cooperative Energy's fuel hedging program.
Responsible for the checkout, verification, and tracking of interchange transactions of energy purchases and/or sales with other entities.
Assists in determining and monitoring credit monitoring requirements of potential and existing power marketing and fuels counterparties.
Responsible for the Fuels group to coordinate fuel procurement with projected system dispatch to meet both short-term and long-term generation needs.
Reviews potential market counterparties, develops contacts, and evaluates and recommends purchase/sales contracts to expand Cooperative Energy marketing capabilities.
Develops and maintains Energy Risk Management policies and procedures.
Develops, implements, and maintains fuel and energy accounting policies and procedures.
Develops, implements, and maintains trading control procedures including trade capture, power compliance monitoring, and reporting.
Develops daily, monthly, and annual reports on marketing activities or other reports as may be required.
Represents Cooperative Energy on various power marketing, fuels, MISO, SERC or NERC committees as required and directed by Management.
Staying abreast of MISO changes to ensure that we are not negatively impacted by any Tariff or System changes and communicating those changes to the appropriate people so that we can operate efficiently in the MISO Market.
Responsible for ensuring market settlements are shadowed correctly and there are no unexplained variances on any charge types.
Ensures adequate inventories of fuels for plants are maintained.
Evaluates and monitors fuel purchase contracts; leads in negotiations.
Assists in fuel and load studies with Planning Group as may be required.
Monitors trends in fuel for generation assets on local and national basis.
Assists in the development of fuel supply search and contract development for new and/or present generation as maybe required.
Directs activities and prepares reports as may be required to assure compliance with federal and state regulations as pertains to fuels.
Keeps abreast of government regulations pertaining to power plant fuel operations.
Develops annual work plan and budget for Power Marketing and Fuels groups.
Responsible for managing our Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) and ensuring that we sell them in an economic manner for the benefit of our members.

Experience Requirements:
10 years Power System Experience Or
10 years Trading, scheduling or analytical related position in an Electric (ISO) or Natural Gas Market Or
10 years Energy Transaction Experience
Education:
Bachelor's Degree- Engineering General (ABET Accredited Institution) Or
