The primary responsibility of the Athletic Director is to oversee all aspects of the athletic program by Hinds Community College. This includes the hiring of staff and coaches, ordering equipment for teams, promoting games, matches, and meets. The Athletic Director will also participate in fundraising campaigns for teams and sports and provide guidance to the students in the sports program.
Coordinate and schedule competitive athletic events and activities.
Coordinate fundraising activities for athletics and develop comprehensive fundraising campaign working with the Hinds Community College Foundation.
Coordinate the use of the facilities designed for sports events and activities.
Supervise maintenance and care of facilities designed for sports activities.
Coordinate the inventory of the athletic equipment and advise the vice president on requisition of new equipment and budgetary process
Approve requests from the coaches for facilities management and auxiliary services for transportation, and and other expenditures related to the sports program.
Prepare budgets with the assistance of each head coach for the respective sport
Submit reports as required by the appropriate authority to insure proper accounting and auditing for athletic funds.
Work with appropriate deans in coordinating the teaching loads of coaches.
Supervise recruiting and signing of all athletics.
Prepare recommendation for athletic insurance for the vice president’s approval.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate authority.
